We have an opportunity for an experienced and passionate leader to join us, leading our fundraising efforts to support our community hospital. The Director, Major Gifts & Campaigns will design and execute a comprehensive development plan, work to cultivate lasting relationships with our donors and community, and lead a dynamic and growing development team.

The Director, Major Gifts & Campaigns will manage a personal portfolio of a large number of active major gift donors and prospects ($50,000 and above), communicate organizational priorities and deliver exceptional stewardship. This key role will inspire and engage existing and untapped donor audiences in support of the hospital.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR…

  • Contributing to the positive culture of the Foundation while driving the organization revenue goals
  • Work closely with all Foundation teams and relevant Hospital colleagues to identify, close and steward major gifts of $50,000 and higher
  • Identifying potential planned giving opportunities and acting as the planned giving lead to meaningfully engage supporters in legacy conversations
  • Guide large-scale capital campaigns and special fundraising initiatives to ensure they exceed established targets while ensuring they meet the giving objectives of donors
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the GBGH team; understand assigned areas of care and the key fundraising priorities within them
  • Mentor, manage and guide team members in a positive and supportive way
  • Partner with the rest of the leadership team in representing the hospital foundation in the community, enhancing its reputation and visibility as a leader in healthcare philanthropy
  • Consistently delivering a thoughtful, creative, and excellent donor experience

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant will have or be able to demonstrate a commitment to developing the following qualifications and skills

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in fundraising and development or a related field, or an appropriate combination of education and experience, a CFRE designation or other professional designation is a great asset
  • Seven to ten years of fundraising experience with major donor audiences, experience in healthcare philanthropy is preferred
  • Proven track record securing transformational ($1M+) gifts from individual, corporate and community donors with expertise in all aspects of fundraising including pipeline development, cultivation and solicitation of gifts at the six and seven-figure + level.
  • Highly refined emotional intelligence and the ability to relate to, communicate with, and build consensus across a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising strategies, donor cultivation, and stewardship. Comfort with planned giving is an added bonus
  • Outstanding communication skills, presence, and positive attitude. The ability to communicate in languages other than English is desirable.
  • Authentic leadership style with demonstrated ability to manage responsibilities and experience leading teams of staff and volunteers.
  • A professional aligned with the GBGH Foundation’s values: Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
  • Understanding of CRA guidelines regarding receipting and other financial matters related to gift agreements
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to efficiently manage competing demands and priorities and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of the community GBGH serves

BENEFITS & PERKS

Salary Range of $93,000 to $125,000
