Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Development (DoD), the Community & Corporate Giving Officer plays a key role in driving annual giving initiatives and strengthening community engagement. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating signature fundraising events, including the annual Energy Experience and a newly introduced Spring Event, to ensure exceptional donor experiences and maximize revenue.
In addition to event management, the Officer will develop and maintain a robust pipeline for third-party fundraising opportunities, oversee tribute and in-memoriam giving programs, and collaborate with internal teams to align strategies with organizational goals. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while fostering strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
Role & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of donors, including businesses, community groups, event hosts, and individual donors.
Works with community partners to develop and coordinate events that raise the Foundation’s profile and increase fundraising opportunities.
Provides SMHF solicitor training to volunteers in coordination with the DoD, and manages volunteers, as required, to support community fundraising initiatives and events. Researching and developing direct mail themes and topics.
Coordinates and monitors the Direct Mail Program, including providing analysis and reports.
Leads the planning and execution of recognition programs.
Raises profile and maintain a positive image of the Foundation with the community at large.
Maintains donor and event records in the Bloomerang database.
Leads, plans, and manages the end-to-end strategic planning and execution of all Events within their portfolio.
Acts as primary liaison for event committees.
Liaises with vendors and suppliers, ensuring contracts are in order and overseeing vendor payments.
Develops and recommends budget, marketing, audio-visual components, speaker and guest logistics, safety and security, and other aspects of the event.
Builds relationships with vendors and other business partners by researching and contracting with qualified, high-value service providers.
Conceives creative and innovative event themes to enhance event experiences and achieve fundraising goals.
Recruits volunteers for key roles to support event committees and special functions.
Schedules and manages event volunteers, ensuring they are fully trained and understand their roles.
Books and inspects banquet and catering functions, hotel facilities, and other spaces necessary for events.
Represents the Foundation at events and/or arranges for volunteer representation.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Post-secondary education in fundraising, communication, public relations, marketing, business, or a related area of study.
Minimum of two years’ experience in a fundraising organization with exposure to event planning, giving programs, and recognition best practices.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
Experience with CRM database (Bloomerang, Raisers Edge, others)
Superior verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Outstanding organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
Able to manage multiple priorities effectively and thrive under pressure.
Highly motivated with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience in working with prospects in a fundraising or sales capacity.
Experience managing a group of volunteers.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
