On-Going Education and Events to Build Your Skills and Network

AFP Central Ontario All-in-membership
Active AFP Central Ontario Chapter members have access (at no additional cost!) to presentations by experts in the development field, featuring a broad range of expertise and topics to support the growth of your development career. All from the convenience of your desk, at any time.
AFP Global also offers videos, some at no charge, and some for a fee; check out “Tools and Resources” at www.afpglobal.org.
Annual Philanthropic Symposium
AFP Central Ontario offers networking and educational events as part of its professional development programming, with many sessions eligible for continuing education credit toward the CFRE and ACFRE credentials. Our annual June symposium, held in conjunction with our Annual General Meeting, creates dialogue around important topics that impact the charitable sector. The symposium provides both Chapter members and not-yet-members an opportunity to learn, network, engage, share ideas, and connect with fundraisers across our region, and around the globe.

National Philanthropy Day®
Mark Your Calendars
Throughout November, more than 50,000 people across North America, including members of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, celebrate National Philanthropy Day® in recognition of the extraordinary difference made to communities across Canada by those involved as volunteers, donors and leaders.
Our Chapter celebrates this day each year by drawing attention to the powerful impact of young people through our Youth in Philanthropy Award, and honouring the contribution of mentors in the fundraising field through The Eric Dean Award.
Join us on November 30 in Orillia for our National Philanthropy Day Celebration. Event details and registration: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/5640955
Chris Locke, one of the philanthropic owners of Orillia and Port Sydney Home Hardware locations will be our guest speaker for this event. Chris comes from a fundraising background and understands the challenges associated with the role of major gift acquisition and fundraising planning. He and his fellow owners are ongoing philanthropic donors and have given hundreds of thousands to the greater Orillia and Muskoka areas. Join us to hear why their team feel it is critical to support and give back to their communities.
