Resource Development and Fundraising Manager
Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka (EFSSM) is a non-profit, registered charity that provides support and services to youth and adults who have been criminalized, incarcerated, and/or are experiencing homelessness in Simcoe County and the District Municipality of Muskoka. Our mission is to prevent and reduce homelessness, criminalization, marginalization, racialization, and poverty by addressing systemic causes through advocacy and services.
The Resources Development and Fundraising Manager will expand on EFSSM’s Strategic Plan to raise unrestricted funds to deliver critical services and supports that EFSSM provides to youth and adults across the region.
EFSSM is currently seeking an experienced and skilled Resource Development and Fundraising Manager. This is an exciting and demanding fulltime position that involves a high degree of collaboration and teamwork. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Director of Operations and the Fundraising Committee, the Manager, supports the agency’s strategic plans in its approach to fund development.
Summary
The Resource Development and Fundraising Manager is responsible for managing the fundraising and communications activities of the organization including: donor stewardship and maintenance of donor records; sourcing and drafting grants and funding proposals; and the production of communications and social media materials. The position is also a lead member of the Fundraising and Communications/Social Media Committees.
Key Responsibilities
· Promote EFSSM’s vision, mission and values, and work with diverse communities, businesses, and government agencies to support development activities and promote awareness of the organization.
· Helps to create fundraising materials including written appeals, proposals, grant applications, presentations, reports, acknowledgements, and donor reports that align with the mission and strategic plan of the organization..
· Develops and implements innovative and strategic communication and solicitation strategies to build donor loyalty, improve retention and increase the size of the supporter base.
· Identify fundraising trends and evaluate current initiatives to ensure a high degree of innovation and quality in fundraising programs and events.
· Research, develop new funding initiatives, explore, and execute new strategic partnerships with other community stakeholders that align with the organizations values to raise much needed unrestricted funding.
· Prospect identification, to increase EFSSM’s donor base.
· Ensures fundraising plans are diversified across a range of measures including individual and group donations, foundation grants, faith communities, special events, corporate sponsorships, and grants.
· Liaises with Executive Director on Advocacy messages.
· Develops marketing and communication materials with a focus on social media marketing.
· Ensures regular updating of the Agency’s promotional materials, including brochures, display boards, information packages and website materials.
· Ensures that accurate and timely information is posted on agency web site and social media platforms.
· Develop online campaigns to enhances online fundraising.
· Develop and provide presentations for community groups, businesses, and other partners.
· Resourcing to benefit program participants.
· Creates and maintains an active wish list.
· Design and provide content for monthly newsletters.
· Maintain updated media contacts, draft, and distribute media release and track media coverage.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications
· Post-Secondary degree or diploma in event management, marketing and fundraising, public relations or equivalent.
· Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation preferred.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in a fundraising position preferably with a social service agency
· Strong knowledge of issues faced by marginalized populations including, poverty, criminalization, homelessness, trauma, abuse, and women’s issues preferred.
· Fundraising and Special Event experience.
· Valid drivers license and use of vehicle
· AFP Membership is considered an asset
Skills and Abilities
· Superior communication, verbal, writing and editing skills.
· Knowledge of CRA legislation applicable to voluntary sector charities.
· Strong relationship-building skills to participate in the community, learn about our organization and initiatives, and strengthen existing relationships with equity, diversity, and inclusion at the forefront.
· Ability to anticipate, understand, respond, and work collaboratively with internal and external constituents.
· Experience with event development and execution.
· Experience in donor cultivation and stewardship.
· Experience developing and delivering professional presentations and working/building relationships with diverse community stakeholders.
· Demonstrated success in grant and funding applications.
· Demonstrated problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
· Demonstrated project management, development of workplans and critical paths to ensure timely and successful results.
· Superior financial and time management skills.
· Ability to be resourceful, flexible, and adaptable, with the ability to work under minimal supervision and exercise sound judgement.
· Demonstrated proficiency in area of public relations and media communications.
· Superior customer service, interpersonal, written/oral communication, and facilitation skills.
· Adherence to the AFP Ethical Code of Standards
· Demonstrated computer proficiency with advanced skills in FB, Instagram, Threads, X, including Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Adobe Products, Canva, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) including donor databases, Canada Helps, marketing software Constant Contact or Mail Chimp and related database programs.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent. 1 FTE. 35 hours/week
This position is excluded from the Bargaining Unit
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 per year
